False Alarm Fine
By-product of an installed alarm system is the false alarms and the false alarm fine. Please do not blame technology, instead, please be well self-educated. Even if you don’t get an alarm system installed, sometimes you still need to get to know it, especially when you are living in a condominium.
When you are cooking, everything seems fine, just a little bit smoke, but the fire alarm suddenly starts to beep. What should you do?
- Cancel the alarm!
The first thing you should do is to call security to cancel the alarm and you will be surprised to know how efficient the security guard is in terms of informing fire department. I wonder why the first step for him to do is not to call the alarm activated unit instead of the fire department directly?
The following steps will ensure you the alarm will stop beeping in minutes:
- Before cooking, please open your windows to let the air in your unit circulate well and get you some fresh air, but make sure your door is closed to doorway. Never open the door when the false alarms occur!
- When the alarm starts to beep, don’t panic; turn off the stove, remove and cover the cooking pan
- Circulate the air around the fire alarm device with a fan or the like and the alarm beep will stop in seconds
If you have more than one person in the unit, please instruct the other person to share the tasks with you. If you are the person who is cooking, please ask the other one to call to cancel the alarm and you do the rest; if the other person is cooking, then you can call to cancel the alarm immediately.
This post sounds trivial, however, when the false alarm happens, it will reminds you of this post.
Don’t let the false alarm fine outnumber the protection you get.
Reliance Protectron
VOXCOM is now Reliance Protectron. The name change of Voxcom is a result of the Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership’s acquisition of VOXCOM in 2007. I suppose that Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership took over Protectron already and that Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership is rebranded to Reliance Protectron after a series of acquisition one by one until Voxcom in order to compete with ADT. Voxom is the best performer within Reliance Comfort Limited Partnership without doubt. It’s hard to say who took over whom, but it is a win-win strategy that sings to Obama “Buy Canadian” eh.
A.P.I. Alarm
If you are canadian and are interested in getting an alarm, go with a.p.i alarm. alarm force uses shitty equipment and its ugly too…api offers everything that alarm force does except they use trusted equipment – DSC is what i have. alarm force dont have line seizure either which means that if the phone line is off the hook, their monitoring station wont get a signal.
Im pretty sure a.p.i is the largest canadian owned monitoring station and i have been more than happy to be with them. clean work and expert service. they are ulc listed as well. alarm force doesnt even have their own monitoring station…its cheap equipment, thats why they can offer you $25/month and free install…you get what you pay for…pay a little more get a lot more…adt, chubb, and a.p.i is what i recommend…definitely NO alarm force. but again if you are canadian, stay canadian…obama says dont buy canadian, so why should we buy american…do what you want but its better to have peace of mind than uncertainty that comes with alarm force…two way voice is bs anyways…it only works by the key pad…what if your not there…a.pi. adt or chubb

Poor Alarm Company
Alarm Force is a great marketing company, but a poor alarm company. The equipment is rented, minimal, and poor quality. The 2 way voice is a gimmick that is easily defeated. Listen to the words carefully when they advertise…they have good lawyers and just barely avoid false advertising. I think I will stick with reputable companies like Sears that installs real branded equipment that I own, and they care about my business because they have a lot more at stake than my monitoring money.
