Panic button

Panic buttons are small security devices used to call a monitoring centre, the police, an ambulance or locally for assistance through a silent or audible alarm. Panic buttons are portable, wireless and easily accessible. They are very convenient because all it needs is just a single push to initiate the call for help in case of an intruder. The elderly also use them at home as an alternative to living in residential home care facilities in case of a medical emergency; in this case, it’s a medical alert panic button.

Panic buttons are also convenient in an emergency when you’re unable to use your phone to call for help. They are user friendly due to their simplicity. Children and the elderly can use them without difficulty. It is also designed to be shock resistant and highly durable.

Panic buttons are battery powered, therefore, its very important to make sure that the batteries are sufficiently charged periodically. It is possible to program a panic button to call an emergency number or a loved one. The same system can send text messages by use of computers to designated numbers requesting for assistance. Basically a panic button is used to provide a basic cry for help, having it will make you feel secure and safe.

However, it’s advised to use a panic button with caution, especially when it’s connected to a central station, police department. Alarm companies tend to disable the panic button by default to avoid false alarms. Perhaps it’s wise to connect it to a loved one’s cell phone number instead of a central station, unless the false alarm fine is much less important than the immediate help for you.
