Protectron bought Voxcom, Protectron is the largest Canadian Alarm Company and has been for a while. If you research them you will find that they are among the very best if not the best in the industry. They provide not only 24 hour service but also 24 hour over the phone technical support. They also guarantee service within 5 days, not 5 business days, but 5 days. They can usually beat this and sometimes will be at your door the very next day or right away in the case of an emergency. They do very little advertising as the quality of service they provide speaks for itself.

Did you read AlarmForce contract? When you do, you will learn that AlarmForce is not responsible for anything that its employees and contractors (they pride themselves of not using contractors) do or neglect to do. Therefore you (Ha, ha) have not claim about your panic button not being connected. Altogether, the AlarmForce contract is a one-way trap. It imparts an obligation to the customer to pay, while it does not impart any obligation on AlarmForce. Hence, the AlarmForce contract is illegal. In a courtroom a judge would determine its illegality. Apparently, no customer raised the problem.
It is good that AlarmForce customers complain, but each complainer should also get to the BBB site www.BBB.org and leave a report there. I suspect that I am the only one to do so, because the AlarmForce rating with BBB is the highest A+. AlarmForce does not deserve that rating.

Monitoring means that the monitor knows in what condition the home installation is. What kind of monitoring is it, when the monitor is not notified whether the home has or does not have a telephone connection, or whether the equipment is or is not powered? All a burglar has to do when he breaks in is to pull the plug on the talking box or, much more conveniently, go to the basement and pull the main switch. After that, he can work without disturbance.

Well it's been two years since this original post. Obviously things have changed, well at least considering I have an alarmforce monitored smoke detector on all 3 floors of my home. A very well written post, but I'm a little confused because most customers don't understand that their needs can't be met with a basic package. They think there should be more more more with no charge for it. Oh and by the way.....outsourcing may be good in some instances, but in most cases the simple fact is it is cheaper and usually less qualified are getting the outsourced jobs. Well written post, but I don't agree with a large portion of it.

James I did get mine through adt and not a dealer. When I had mine put in I wasn't told that at intallation I could ask for an extended warranty at an extra $5.00 a month. So in turn I was given 3 months, then after that had to pay for the service. Of course when I called about the extended plan I was told that I would have to pay a tech to check out the equipment to make sure it was in good working order first, which is understandable. However they wanted $499 to come out and look at it first. Obviously I said no.

And still the cup shouldn't have to say HOT

Well first off your alarm was not armed when the back door opened. No door chime when it's armed, only when the system is not armed do the doors chime. Next, sounds like your alarm wasn't on when the phone cord was pulled. Therefore it's not going to report your line is cut because it wasn't there to begin with. If the line is lost while the alarm is on it reports. This was all explained to me pretty clearly by the person who put ours in. Can't speak for his dress as our installer wore an Alarmforce shirt, coat and had on a Id badge as well. Now as for his car. Our installer had a nice suv. I asked him if it was a company vehicle and most choose to drive personal vehicles, so maybe the guy couldn't afford a nice new one.

Me too i have problems with this company. Witch i was force to take when i bought the house.

They are charging my credit card directly and when my credit card expired they never sent or call to ask for the new credit card number. I have to admit that i didn't call them but the fact is that they sent my account for collection. I owe them little money and because the way the contract is made I end-up with a 850$ bill.

Be aware of this company. They charge 25$ per month but if you have an overdue then they charge 100$ fee to send you in collection + in the collection agency they charge you for the balance of the contract and also fees to send you in collection.

This is outrageous. I tried to pay the small amount I owe them but they don't want. They want the 100$ to having sent me to collection but the collection agency didn't reach me yet.

if you are canadian and are interested in getting an alarm, go with a.p.i alarm. alarm force uses shitty equipment and its ugly too...api offers everything that alarm force does except they use trusted equipment - DSC is what i have. alarm force dont have line seizure either which means that if the phone line is off the hook, their monitoring station wont get a signal.

im pretty sure a.p.i is the largest canadian owned monitoring station and i have been more than happy to be with them. clean work and expert service. they are ulc listed as well. alarm force doesnt even have their own monitoring station...its cheap equipment, thats why they can offer you $25/month and free install...you get what you pay for...pay a little more get a lot more...adt, chubb, and a.p.i is what i recommend...definitely NO alarm force. but again if you are canadian, stay canadian...obama says dont buy canadian, so why should we buy american...do what you want but its better to have peace of mind than uncertainty that comes with alarm force...two way voice is bs anyways...it only works by the key pad...what if your not there...a.pi. adt or chubb
